Sheffield M29 Anti-War Demonstration

There was a good turn-out for todays demo called by the Sheffield Stop the War Coalition, the theme was that of a funeral, with coffins at the front. The Sheffield Samba Band and Trollyd Sound System again provided top music for the occasion.

Hi Chris C - yet again Sheffield puts Leicester to shame, with the quality of your report. Fraid you'll have to fill in the blanks on mine.

At the end of the demo, after a rally, the Sheffield Samba Band led a few people off out of town. This immediately lead to a police over reaction who tried to intimidate the band and others out of walking in the road. One person was arrested, much to the surprise of passing shoppers, but the band played on anyway, and stayed in the road.

This was the third person arrested this week in Sheffield for walking in the road on anti-war protests. Two people were arrested on Wednesday on the early morning anti-war Critical Mass. All were released after approximately one hour.
