Tuesday April 1st - A Day of Disobedience + Reclaim the Media event.

April Fools Day: A Day of Disobedience

As the death toll mounts in Iraq, the polititians and media continue to spin us lies and treat us like fools. The US spent $225,000 on a state of the art media centre (with catering by Starbucks!) and journalists are given unprecedented access to the troops (and the state unprecedented censorship).

What are they fighting for?

According to the media, this is a war for democracy against an evil dictatorship. But it is obviously a war for oil, a war for profit, for the right to exploit the resources and workers of the region. Above all, the coalition war aim is to establish a new world order.

April Fools

On All Fools Day we will turn the tables with a series of actions. To partipate simply pick a target associated with the war, for example an arms company, petrol station or army recruitment office - there are hundreds to choose from. Research the target ( the web has loads of readily available info). Along with a few people you trust, organise a picket, occupation or something else. Publicise what you have done
on Indymedia.

Expose the Media Lies - Reclaiming the Media

The media is the propaganda arm of the state. This is true in times of peace and even more during the war. At 6pm we will gather at the BBC World Service (funded by the Foreign Office), Bush House, Strand, WC2 to show videos and share information.
