CCTV 9 FOR EXCELLENT WAR ANALYSIS

Albert Kada | 28.03.2003 01:55

CCTV 9 from Beijing, China offers an excellent analysis of the "War on Iraq" without the aggressive psychological warfare used on CNN, Fox news and other state sponsored war news outlets. Today Samuel Berger was used to demonstrate how Americans don't understand the war or the Chinese economy.

Berger complimented "macro thinking" which is an instrument of economic warfare.

CCTV also covered the beligerant "press conferences" today by centcom and the two western dictators, Bush and Blair.

CCTV also offers expert strategic military analysis by one of the few "qualified and active" organizations dedicated to the defense of "People". They tend to refer to the "troops" as children which is accurate.

I especially enjoyed the viewpoint of the former Japan Times editor who compared Iraqis to American patriots. He also recognized the "American Blasphemy" of bombing television stations.

CCTV also provides intelligent analysis of the international relations impact of the war.

The Chinese government has officially called for an immediate end to the attacks.

The Chinese economy continues to have the potential to outgrow any other despite a large increase in the number of "national parks". National Parks in the US are seen by the Bush administration as something to exploit for money. Western "economic experts" have critisized national parks.

US news services were repetitive and dominated by rhetoric, rumors, and army advertising. Congress was not mentioned.

The US failed at diplomacy today by walking out of the UN.

The US also failed to accomplish their military objectives today.

BBC America who have taken some good pictures during the battle, discussed the future of Iraq with an imposter who claimed to be from "US-Iraq" business association which is impossible considering the sanctions.

The most entertaining story I heard was a claim by Iraq that it had "downed 196 cruise missles" which is probably accurate, however these aircraft where designed to crash if needed. The pentagon verified this in advance by saying that the war is the fault of Saddam. The missle fell and it was Saddam's fault which is verification of a "downed" and very expensive aircraft.

KPRC TV in Houston promised a communications expert to explain why Iraqi TV would interview their soldiers. KPRC interviews soldiers every day. KPRC and others also show pictures of captured political prisoners and soldiers on a regular basis. KPRC also shows pictures of the US military killing people and causing destruction. Iraqi TV is having difficulty getting an interview with a non-captured soldier.

KPRC TV offers news that only an embicile could enjoy.

"freindly fire" continues to be a major problem for the "coalition" which now includes Kurdistan, which has its own "troops".

Yes, CCTV-9 is very mellow and all broadcast in English. The channel's very matter-of-fact and informative news bulletins are interspersed with soothing Far Eastern music, and a repeated backdrop bearing the title "Give Peace A Chance"..

Bid Farewell to the BBC (or Auntie the Whore, as we call her in this household) and give CCTV-9 a chance.

So long Auntie!

(P.S. Under the Nuremberg Principles, 1950, the BBC's head of news, one Mr Richard Sambrook is guilty of War Crimes).

i watch CCTV9 every day, it's my only English language news outlet outside of the Internet, and whilst i would agree that it is far superior to Western corporate media, i would like to make two points:

On the comment about National Parks, you seem to be suggesting that the Chinese approach to the environment is flawless. this is frankly bollocks; there is much rhetoric about "protecting the environment" here, and almost every student in China will tell you how important it is, but the focus is on environemntal issues such us "don't step on the grass", "don't drop litter", without a thought for what really matters: industrial pollution, massive deforestration, roads chock-a-block with private cars as car ownership is promoted everywhere. the air quality in china's major cities is amongst the worst in the world, in fact 4 of the world's 10 most polluted cities are in China.

Secondly, too much of CCTV9's war coverage is devoted to "military analysis" which is all aimed at claiming that the US military is shit. I hate the US government (in fact, i hate most/all governments) but i must admit they have a hell of a lot of powerful, technological weaponry; CCTV9's claim are aimed at saying that it is not as good as we think, and china is in fact almost as powerful.

Oh, and although the Chinese government has been critical of the war, this criticism ahs been nothing more than half-arsed due to its fear of rubbing america too far up the wrong way - its stance looks pathetic compared to France, Germnany and even Russia. Plus, remmebr China is the only country in the world that has seen no anti-war protests, purely because of the repressive govenrment - one of my friends was threatened with expulsion from university for wearing an anti-war T-shirt. in a country that's supposed to be radically anti-war!!!
