USAF FAIRFORD ENTERED BY PEACE ACTIVISTS - AGAIN!

Gloucestershire Ramblers' Association | 27.03.2003 14:42

Security at the death camp at USAF Fairford (from which B-52 bombers are being sent out to slaughter the children of Iraq) has been breached once again - looks like even thousands of coppers can't stop the peace-loving people of Britain from taking their actions to the belly of the beast

In the early hours of this morning two peace activists entered USAF Fairford. They were stopped "by a Texan with a machine gun" and detained by the US military before being handed over to Gloucestershire police force. They are being charged with aggravated trespass, conspiracy to cause criminal damage, going equipped to cause criminal damage and criminal damage, and are being remanded in custody despite the fact that one of them is only 17 and has exams coming up. They have a hearing tomorrow (Friday) morning at Cheltenham magistrates court, so go & support them if you can. The British State needs to be taught that the people it laughingly claims to represent will not tolerate genocide being carried out in their name, and are prepared to take action on behalf of the children of Iraq, in memory of those butchered in the marketplace bombing yesterday and for the countless other innocent victims of US & UK aggression.

it's always nice to read these kind of things taking place. i wish the length people is willing to go to make their point,to try to be heard when the government is ignoring them and the mainstream media ignoring them, will make 'them' think twice, but apparently that's no happening , therefore, we'll carry on.
well done to those who enter the base!! Now those of us who didn't, let's get them as much support as possible. Since the state is already using 'anti-terrorist legislation' against the anti-war movement, we need to be determinant in our support and be behind those who take direct actions all the time to make pressure against theri criminalisation.

Hats off to these people - everyone should be doing this, the only way to stop this war is to STOP this war... make sure these two get good lawyers, aggravated trespass depends on impeding "lawful activity" and obviously, this war is illegal, and thus the activity on the base is illegal, therefore there is a strong case for this charge to be thrown out (I am currently in this situation as well!). Bindmans in London is a good firm who are dealing with a lot of anti-war prosecutions at the minute - get in touch with them ASAP. Good luck.
