Hans Bennett | 26.03.2003 05:37
On Saturday, March 22 I traveled out to New York from Philadelphia to join hundreds of thousands of others in New York declaring my opposition to the recent escalation of the US attack on Iraq.
In this photo, NY youth complete the long march along Broadway.

On Saturday, March 22 I traveled out to New York from Philadelphia to join hundreds of thousands of others in New York declaring my opposition to the recent escalation of the US attack on Iraq. I gathered at the front of the CNN building a couple blocks from the main march going down Broadway at 11am. I joined several others (including many from Philadelphia) in decrying CNN and the rest of the corporate media’s serious complicity in the war crimes carried out on the people of Iraq by Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, and George W. Bush. The NYPD attempted to thwart our protest outside CNN, but when we refused to obey, no arrests were made and we were able to have our anti- corporate media feeder march.
The size of the crowd was definitely impressive, and we should accept the police estimate of 125,000 people as a bare minimum. Having taken many anti-war photos in the last few weeks, I decided to shift my gears a little and focus mostly on the different signs that the protesters brought.
I have made several different photo-essays in the last few weeks here as we tried with all our might to prevent the white supremacist mass slaughter labeled “Operation Iraqi Freedom” by the mass murderers running this country.
