police trying to get buses to pull over

Junction 89 on the M4 towards London, just passed 3 coaches of anti war demonstrators (coach company: greens of london) beng escorted by slowly by at least 3 police vans and, 6 police motorcycles and a land rover.
The protestors had a sign on the windows saying we are being illegaly detained. The police appeared to be trying to get the coaches to pull over to the side of the road. There also seems to be a lot more police vans around.

total abuse of police powers

Seems like cos we're at war, the police are able to do what the hell they like. Who the hell gave them the authority to do this?

Are they trying to say they have evidence that everybody on the coach was likely to commit breach of the peace? (or evidence that anyone was, come to that).

Absolutely fucking unbelievable.

Totally believable

Totally believable in this country @ this time. All the laws for what they're worth just go out the window during wartime.

from one of the detained

the 3 coaches were stopped just outside Fairford, evrybody was searched as were the coaches themselves. we were searched under section 60 cj&po act for "offence weapons & dangerous instruments". Items confiscated were: placards, motorcycle helmets, white overalls. These apparently constitute offensive weapons & dangerous instruments. We never reached the base & were escorted back to london by heavy police presense. Total bullshit illegal nonsense.

fluff

Nice One Indymedia

Nice one Indymedia...once again, the mainstream news on tv have not mentioned anything about what's going on with Fairford, Oxford St etc...Great we can turn on the computer and hear what's really going on! Keep up the good work! XX

but some got through

A few of the people on the stopped coaches made it to the Fairford airbase - i guess by dodging past the police when they were ordered off the coaches (they were stopped just a couple of miles from the demo).

My coach got pulled over and the luggage holds and underside were examined but we passengers were just filmed through windows.

I recall vehicles from London being searched on the way to EF! actions elsewhere in years gone by.
But, coppers, remember that your personal high-score would surely be cordoning an entire midlands county during the 84-85 mine-workers strike.
