Around 200 people and a critical mass of about 30 cyclists turned up today for the Disobedience Against War call in London. People quickly moved on to bloc the big roundabout of Old St whilst shouting slogans against the attack on Iraq. A small samba band aslo turned up giving some festive athmosphere to the action. Police quickly moved in and became very violent straight away, pushing and kicking people and trying to get the crowd out of the road. After almost one hour of protesters blocking the traffic a sound-system turned up. Whilst some people was trying to set it up, large numbers of police moved in becoming extremelly agressive, punching and pushing people and trying to arrest some. Eventually and after some skirmishes police managed to impound the sound equipment. People then moved on and occupied the middle of the road again, at which time police quicly surrounded the crowd by violently pushing and kicking them into a corner. After an hour of keeping people trapped in a small corner, police finally decided to let the crowd go without major incidents. During the time the crowd was trapped inside police lines they were cheered by passers-by, onlookers and people in cars and busses. Here there are some photos:
