Activists casue traffic mayhem - Midday Demo halts traffic and storms City Hall - Evening Demo sees hundreds of Workers on the streets.

At 7.30 am a group of activists managed to block the inner ring road route into leeds. Ten people locked themselves into a circle using arm tubes and were supported by a further 20 people. This number was increased by school students who deserted their stationary buses. Police were caught completely off gaurd and did not arrive on the scene for 30 minutes.
It took several hours to clear the road and the entire leeds traffic system was plunged into chaos. Around a dozen people were arrested and were still being held at bridewell police station as of 6pm this evening.

At noon a council workers demo was joined by a students and school pupils march and began a spontaneous and very noisy march around the city centre. Police were struggling to contain the situation which at one stage saw as many as 2000 protestors staging sit down protests and roaring their anger at the war.
At one point demonstrators pushed through police lines and stormed the steps of the city hall, about 30 people managed to force their way into the building.

At 5pm people began to gather in the city centre for the evening protest. Around 1000 marched through the city blocking rush hour traffic.
