A victory for our side. In order to acheive others we need to surround the elites who run our world, hit them from all sides with that many different problems and demands that their attention is always divided. We need to find ways to resist everywhere.

LIBERTY'S COURT VICTORY TODAY PROVIDES A RAY OF HOPE FOR FLEEING IRAQIS
Amidst international tension and plans for war, the ruling of the Court of Appeal today has brought an important ray of hope for those fleeing Saddam Hussein's Iraq and other tyrannical regimes.
The Court of Appeal ruled unanimously against the government's case of denying asylum seekers any access to welfare benefits or even the right to work. This inhumane policy now lies in tatters.
Under legislation brought in, in January, the government was denying access to even food and shelter to many asylum seekers. The Iraqis whose case Liberty took up were forced to sleep rough in a park just around the corner from the Home Office.
This is a significant and timely victory for human rights in the UK. In 2002, Iraqis topped the list of those applying for asylum in the UK - accounting for nearly one fifth of all the applicants.
Shami Chakrabarti our in-house council has said in press statements that: "Our victory today marks a critical step in securing decent treatment for all" and, "The system operated by the government would have been unfair, unjust and inflexible. It is thanks to the independence of our judiciary and our human rights legislation that thousands of people fleeing for their lives now have a ray of hope."
Liberty's representation in court was supported by a range of other organisations, including homeless and housing charities as well as refugee agencies.
