White Ribbon Campaign

Fustis | 18.03.2003 11:20

The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), the Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT), the Green Party, Greenpeace and the Campaign for Accountability for American Bases (CAAB), together with Mark Thomas, satirist and peace activist, have launched the 'White Ribbons for Peace' campaign.

Lord Goldsmith said that there was no need for a further Security Council resolution because the authority to use force already existed in the form of two previous resolutions.(BBC)

The majority of the people of Britain are against going to war with Iraq, yet Mr Blair does not give them recognition. The organisations have come together with Mark Thomas to urge everyone to show their opposition to war by wearing a common symbol, a white ribbon.

Any proceeds of the sale of the ribbons will go to help pay for taking Mr Blair, Mr Hoon and Mr Straw to the International Criminal Court should this war go ahead and crimes against humanity be carried out.

If the UK is involved in the use of force against Iraq which breaches international humanitarian law (IHL), a coalition of law professors and leading NGOs around the world are committed to taking the case to the International Criminal Court (ICC). The UK, US and Canada's government were all served with letters before action, warning them of the consequences of deploying illegal force against Iraq on 23 January, with UK prime minister Tony Blair served eight days later at 10 Downing St.

Buy a white ribbon, or make your own, sell them and send the money to CND, CAAT, CAAB etc.

Don't forget to wear your ribbon.

Let's make them (Tony Blair, Hoon, Straw and the other members of the cabinet - including Clare Short) accountable for their actions.
