Do a fuel blockade over this war?

emu | 17.03.2003 22:49

The fuel protests were the most succesful direct action in Britain ever! Why not do the same thing over the war?

Look it is simple. Why don't the wombles and a number of other groups Blockade oil refineries aound the country. We know what the effect is because it has been done already. We know we would have the public on our side that is all too obvious and their is a wonderful link betyween oil and this war.

Aye, but

as was shown by the invasion of the oil exchange, the real soft spots are the financial markets because that's where the real power of the system lies. Money is the blood of capitalism and blocking its flow is equivalent to inducing a heart attack. Smash the markets and you paralyze part of the system.

War spells disaster on the economic front

Petrol prices are set to soar, already at a high, prices will soar, once the war begins, having an adverse effect on the economic market, putting thousands of small buisnesses and companies who can't afford high fuel transport costs out of buisness. The war is also bad news for heating oil users, with home heating prices set to soar again to accomodate the war. Bad news for those on the poverty line and pensioners.

Fuel protesters had public support?

Bollocks did they! It was a minority right-wing direct action designed to destabilize a Labour government.

The hauliers didn't have a case, rising costs are always
passed on to consumers.
