Reports of B-2 Stealth Bombers heading for Fairford are incorrect, according to The Gloucestershire Weapons Inspectors. Which just goes to show you shouldn't believe every(any)thing you read in the papers. Picture below shows the only recent visit of a B-2 to Fairford.
Thanks to the GWI affiliate program we are now able to monitor the movements of aircraft worldwide. Plane spotters across the world are watching the skies and radio waves for the signs of our stealthy friends.
So despite all the news reports we are confident that the B-2's are still at home in Whiteman airbase. However deployment could be any day although it's also possible they'll fly their initial attack direct from Whiteman and then go to Diego Garcia and possibly Fairford to reloading before they go back in.
There is little doubt the US military wants to use Fairford for the B-2s since it's the nearest B-2 capable airbase to Baghdad. We'll keep watching the skies and we'll keep you all posted. Remember if they don't come to Fairford then it's a victory for the protests sice we will have succeeded in significantly degrading the US war machine.
So make sure you get to Fairford on Sat 22nd demo - bring flowers to Fairford for the death of our democracy and all the victims of the biggest preventable tragedy in history. Details: http://www.gwi.org.uk
PS. Despite all the news US military buildup is not yet complete and most likely start date for war is still after 22nd. In particular the 101st Airborne is not ready for another week and these are the lot who go in behind enemy lines to secure the oil fields. There will be at least 48 hours notice when the UN pulls out it's essential aid staff... this hasn't started yet.
