Schoolkids excluded for anti-war demo

Six pupils who walked out of school last week to take part in an anti-war demonstration have been suspended for two months.

Six pupils who walked out of school last week to take part in an anti-war demonstration have been suspended for two months. The decision means that the children will not be re-admitted to Blatchington Mill School in Hove, Sussex, until they begin their GCSE examinations. Story Here (Telegraph) To me, this is just another case of social coercion, stopping kids from comming out of school with any independant thoughts. Perhaps we should all email this school: Why not email the school office and tell them what fascists they are.

Real education

...is available on the streets.

We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave the kids alone
hey teacher leave us kids alone
All in all it's just another brick in the wall
All in all you're just another brick in the wall

it could get sinister

it could get sinister if the parents are prosecuted for this, as i believe the law allows. over the next few months we will doubtless see the effects of all the legistlation that the labour party has been quietly laying out over the past few years, for the most part with the consent of all the noble clare shorts of this world...

suspend the teachers too

14.03.2003 15:43

clearly, the teachers at these schools need to be disciplined in some way.

the purpose of school is to prepare kids for a lifetime of obeidience and monotony in the work place. these teachers have failed.

League tables and dark sarcasm

What effect will this have on the school's position in the league table of results?
It is clear that there needs to be a stronger police presence in the classroom, like there is in Turkey for example, to stop those pesky kids getting political.

Quick! Somebody gag them...

Somebody gag them - they have opinions. The real purpose of school must have failed: to dredge them with so much pointless boredom that they lose opinions or touch with real life.

Children are sent to school to learn. If they can leave school every chance they can to protest anything is against school rules. They should set up a time after school to do their protesting. Tax payers get hammer enough with the lack of good teaching and students need to understand that when you are required to be in school it doesn't mean you can leave when you want. Which is what they will learn when they get a job, no employee is going to let employees walk out to protest anything.

So I say the schools are correct, expect for the time students are not allowed back in school...two months is too long. although there are kids that do not mind.
