If Iraq is such a threat, why is Russia not worried ?!

RCL | 13.03.2003 00:51

Russia, more than any other country, has an acute reason to worry about WMD falling into the hands of Moslem terrorists.

The on-going war in Chechnia and the connected terrorist attacks in Moscow make Russia a prime target.

With the US and UK desperate to get Russia's support, but Russia still opposing military action at this time, it seems reasonable to conclude that the US and UK have not provided any real proof to Putin that Iraq is a major threat.

The Russian government probably believe that this is about oil and about the USA proving that it is a superpower, not about a real threat that Iraq poses to anyone else.
The Russians have used the hue and cry about Islamic terrorism to get up to various crimes in Chechnya without risking much international outcry, but they still have misgivings about the US government running riot.
