War Poem

A great poem written by a friend.

The War Against Terror

Thank goodness for George W Bush and our own Mr. Blair
Who’ll stand up to protect what’s Right and everything that’s fair
Old Europe hasn’t read the script and doesn’t want to play
As we stand up together with the good old USA

These third world countries must start to learn about democracy
We’ll show them all about it on the neutral BBC
We’ll tell them all how they should vote and which box they should cross
But if they don’t we’ll sanction them to remind them just who’s boss

It’s vital that you understand that we are under threat
From those who don’t agree with us or haven’t done just yet
I can’t believe that Saddam Hussein he’s such an evil man
We only sold him weapons to be used against Iran

Now he thinks he’s got the right to lie to one and all
He’s tricking our inspectors and ignored the UN call
To let us boss his country and to search Iraqi soil
For chemicals and weapons. We might even find some oil

All these demonstrators with their banners tell a tale
The blood will be on their hands – so said the Daily Mail
It’s good that they can say their bit and go back home and see
That people really want this war, the silent majority!

Critics don’t seem to realise we’re helping Iraqi folk
By bombing air raid shelters we can free them from their yolk
When we see the mess our billion dollar weapons made
We’ll send a billion dollars in developmental aid

Though terrorists may not be there, they are with this regime
Remember 9/11 and the knock to our esteem
But as we slowly drive ahead from one war to another
I must ring up to vote for my celebrity Big Brother.
