FAIRFORD - LATEST ON BOMBER ARRIVALS
GWI | 02.03.2003 15:51
USAF Fairford air base in Gloucestershire is extremely active today (2/3/03). We expect B-52 and possibly B-2 bombers to arrive tonight and tomorrow night.
There is a high level of activity at Fairford today. Troops are moving into the area between gates 10 & 11 (see site map on www.gwi.org.uk).
Four U-2 spy planes landed between 7 & 9am this morning and are in hangars at the base.
The US is deploying B-52 and B-2 bombers imminently. UK government (28/2/03) has give permission for B-52's to operate from Fairford. We don't know about B-2 permission but it's a formality anyway.
The past few days has seen convoys of trucks into the munitions storage area next to the air base.
There is airspace clearance for inbound flights tonight and tomorrow night. We will have a few hours notice of bomber arrivals. We will post here as soon as notified.
Some people are camping tonight at gate 10 to monitor activity. More info www.gwi.org.uk

They've not been moved by the police and it's an amazing spot right near the runway.
They'd really like more people to get down there NOW!
call Kate 07748 015601 she's on the gate!
