Open Space against War

March 1 2003 "open space against the War" has occuped a council property in central BCN. This marks the second such occupation by BCN activists. The first in this ongoing series was the ex-Hacienda building on Feb 15.

On Feb 15th during the global mobilisation against War, acitivists of various groups in Barcelona occupied the ex-Hacienda building belonging to the city council "Ajuntamient". The building at Avinyó 15 was occupied under the banner "espai alliberat contal la guerra"="space liberated against the war".

Well it seemed that about ten million bodies worth of space hade been liberated against War didn´t it? So the wonderful crew of Barcelona knowing how all these things work and link together decided to go on with the "open space" thing. This weekend global "disobedience" has seen more trainspotting generation Italians do their thing, Sardinians Corsicans and Portsmouthonians do theirs´ the ever so very very neutral Irish do Shannon, everyone has to do a ploughshare at least once in their lives no(?) and its great.
wonderful.

Q. so what is "open space"? will the good people of Barcelona be talking more about what "liberated space" means?
well we are thinking about that.aren´t we?
and what is WAR? yes that too.

and what does Barcelona Council have to do with this?
well open space and war and why thousands of people are being consistently "disobedient" are all interlinked things.
Strange thing is a few years ago it was called "resistance".
