90% of workers working in sweatshops are women workers hired by employers in the garment industry in countries like Indonesia, China, Vietnam etc .They employ ex- rural women workers because of their manual dexterity in an industry that has changed little since the nineteenth century and a belief that they will be more compliant than urban workers. GAP is one of the worst offenders.
