Our man in Washington and Iraq

Foreign Press Foundation | 24.02.2003 14:54

Washington based Dutch ambassador to the US, Boudewijn van Eenennaam in the Washington Post said that "he is concerned about a monopoly of power
without checks and balances. Self assertiveness and an arrogance of power among some U.S. officials, that is a troubling thing.

THIS INFORMATION IS ESPECIALLY PREPARED FOR THE VISIT OF UNITED STATES SECRETARY OF STATE COLIN POWELL TO CHINA AND SOUTH KOREA :

OPEN LETTER, SEND TO THE UNITED NATIONS,
the U.S., Chinese, Korean + other major media and Govts.

L.S.

after forty years abroad in "Foreign Service" - as a correspondent for many major media in the world, including the BBC and CBS - may I ask for some minutes of your time ? To see what my experience+ analysis tells concerning the US and Iraq ? I have lived and worked ten years in the Arab world too, accredited in Tunis.

Every point below has a footnote where you can check the full story yourself.

1) How can YOU trust the US-Govt. if we do not get full information like in this case :

"THE United States edited out more than 8000 crucial pages of Iraq's 11,800-page dossier on weapons, before passing on a sanitised version to the 10 non- permanent members of the United Nations security council.

The full extent of Washington's complete control over who sees what in the crucial Iraqi dossier, calls into question the allegations made by US Secretary of State Colin Powell : that 'omissions' in the document constituted a 'material breach' of the latest UN resolution on Iraq." Without real evidence !
And the ripped out pages are called "Omissions" ?

2) "A War Crime or an Act of War?"

The article in the New York Times by -STEPHEN C. PELLETIERE- published January 31, 2003 and titled "A War Crime or an Act of War?", is one of the most important pieces of information ever given by the CIA at this level on this matter. His points are clear : The USand Israel want both the oil AND the WATER from that Kurdish area in Northern Iraq. NO Saddam Hussein's or Kurdish hands on this enormously important tap : this planned Iraq war is meant to secure oil for the US and the future watersupply to Israel.

Is it really true and a fact that Saddam Hussein also gassed the Kurds at Halabja - one of the main US arguments for going to war with Iraq - is according to the CIA 'NOT CORRECT' ?

Prof. S. PELLETIERE : "I am in a position to know because, as the Central Intelligence Agency's senior political analyst on Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war, and as a professor at the (U.S.)Army War College from 1988 to 2000, I was privy to much of the classified material that flowed through Washington having to do with the Persian Gulf. In addition, I headed a 1991 Army
investigation into how the Iraqis would fight a war against the United States; the classified version of the report went into great detail on the Halabja affair."

3) WHY CANNOT POWELL BE TRUSTED

US Secretary of State Colin Powell has begun talks in Beijing on the crises in Iraq and North Korea. Mr Powell is hoping to persuade a sceptical China to back the tough US stance on disarming Iraq by force and a diplomatic approach to ending the North Korean nuclear crisis. He is visiting China as part of a four-day visit to Asia, in which he hopes to get support for an
already in the media lost case ! because many in S-East Asia remember Powell as the man who helped -as he writes in his own memoirs 'torching villages with our Ronsons and Zippo's'. He was covering up US- Army attrocities, like My Lai too.

When I arrived for the first time in Vietnam during the war, on April 17th, 1971, in the 'correspondents hotel Caravelle' the "cover-up" about the massacre at My Lai
by Colin POWELL was still talk of the town. Powell is not what the media show, and I certainly do not trust him. "Behind Colin Powell's Legend" URL for a full story

4) Every square inch of Iraq has been filmed and photographed for more than 12 years !

What wonders many with some insight in U.S. satellite reconnaissance, is the fact that SIX U.S. satellites, controlling Iraq for over 12 years, 7 days a week and 24 hrs a day, have not turned up anything which this far
could be accepted as some kind of real proof in relation to all the accusations by president Bush, Secr. of State Powell etc. etc. Every square inch of Iraq has been filmed and photographed hundreds - sometimes thousands - of times.

And still :"Only a tip of the iceberg" ?

5) " US threatens world peace" says Mandela.

In 1976 I was arrested and declared "Persona non Grata" in 'Apartheid's South Africa, since I wanted to see what reality was. And today I fully share the views by Nelson Mandela, one of the world's most respected
statesmen, who - like the Pope, Arab religious leaders and 75 % of the world's population - daily has condemned United States war-like interventions in the Middle East and many other countries around the globe as "a threat to world peace". Remember what he said, worldwide and amongst others via the BBC : " the U.S. threatens world peace" says Mandela :

The 'Hara Kiri' of the United States Government.

How representatives of foreign countries and peoples have been treated by those in power in the U.S I've seen for the past forty years. And based on experience
I'm very unhappy with what I've seen 'friends' doing to others. My verdict is clear : This U.S. Foreign policy doctrine is not only inhuman but also the final phase in the Hara Kiri the United States Government is committing.

Washington based Dutch ambassador to the US, Boudewijn van Eenennaam in the Washington Post said that "he is concerned about a monopoly of power
without checks and balances. Self assertiveness and an arrogance of power among some U.S. officials, that is a troubling thing."

While - according to the polls - seventy-five percent of the Dutch population of 16+ million is against the US-Govt.'s planned war in Iraq, the now infamous Dutch right-wing 'care taker'-cabinet already secretly has taken part in the U.S. wars. The Dutch ambassador in Washington, van Eenennaam, as quoted by the Washington Post* said : " that US State Department officials with a "nasty undertone" contacted him to make sure the Dutch recognized Bush's gesture."

So this is the way the Dutch became "Allies" ?

It is my view, that everybody who tries to stop the present belligerent policy of hegemony by the United States and Israel, is a fine and understanding human being with respect for the Human Rights of fellow human beings.

The FPF makes it a point of distinguishing between the PEOPLE, and the the governments of the United States and Israel, about which abuse of Human Rights we are often critical.
