Today a coach load of protesters from Oxford including a group of student weapons inspectors, participated in a demonstration at RAF Fairford that saw the front gate torn open with ropes.

Fairford is the only base in Europe at which B2 stealth bombers can be based or refuelled. 48% of all B2 flights during the Kosovo war flew from Fairford.

5 Oxford Student Weapons Inspectors managed to get into the base, and were escorted out by police. Here is their report:

“US Air-force involvement at RAF Fairford is totally secretive, unaccountable and undemocratic. The bombers which will slaughter thousands of Iraqis are in our backyard; we need to take responsibility!” Matt

“Although we managed to get into the base where we suspected our governments of preparing weapons of mass destruction, the UK authorities were extremely un-cooperative and blocked further access.” Owen

“Being a weapons inspector that has travelled here all the way from Los Angeles, CA, USA I was displeased by the non-compliance exemplified by the authorities today”

“Since Fairford is the only base in the Europe capable of holding B2 bombers, it is a very important place to search for weapons of mass destruction. However our duty was hampered by the police, who prevented us from accessing the weapons and harassed us on the way home.” Rosa

“Tony Blair is pouring scorn on our democracy. We know he has weapons of mass destruction and is prepared to use them on Iraq. The only solution left open to us is regime change!” James
