Pressing the call of "No War on Iraq!"

After the demonstrations of 2/15/03, our leaders are on the defensive. Now is the time to maintain and raise the pressure on them.

The anti-war demonstrations of February 15, 2003 were truly a remarkable success. Our movement could not be ignored on that day. Clearly some sectors of our national ruling elite were shaken by the tremendous outpouring of resistance we demonstrated. While G.W. Bush and company are wasting no time in responding that they can not be moved from their present course, the fact that they mention us at all is great testament to our success. We could expect no more from them under the best of circumstances. They will never acknowledge our victories lest they embolden us. But their response does indicate division at the top. Our job now is to seize the advantage while we have it and broaden the cleavage! This is no time to rest or relax. Desperation at the possibility of losing control may push our rulers to desperate acts. We must proclaim our opposition to war more loudly, frequently, and with as much urgency as possible. We must also deepen our demands to include the relaxation or elimination of the murderous sanctions against Iraq. The behavior of Israel in that nation’s campaign of terror and imperialism against the Palestinian people must be recognized and ended. We must speak out against the Patriot acts, which threaten a government attack on resistance within this nation. Our calls for the meeting of the people’s human needs, environmental protection, Social Security, jobs, healthcare, etc., etc. will resound with greatest force if coupled with our resistance to Bush’s insane war plans. Let’s swell the demonstrations more and more. Let’s go to our neighborhoods and workplaces and spread the truth by all communication means available to us, by pamphlet/flyer, whatever can work. We can be the media! We will change the world if we continue to press our demand of “No War on Iraq!” jamie
