That's not the way the Beeb tells it.

Although the phrase you quote made CNN and Reuters, it didn't sneak into the BBC's version. Their version reported the phrase as: "Fighting in support of the non-Islamic banners is forbidden."

Instead of a specific statement of opposition to Hussein, we are given a generalised prohibition against fighting alongside infidels.
