February 15th demo: YOUNG ANTI-AUTHORITARIAN MEET-UP

londonAY | 08.02.2003 16:44

Young anti-capitalists, anarchists and anti-authoritarians are being invited to gather in London at 12 pm on the South Bank on February 15th for the anti-war demonstration.

This gathering, proposed by London Anarchist Youth, will have the aim of allowing young people to meet others who are interested in anti-authoritarian struggle. We aim to meet, socialise, exchange contacts and then splinter into affinity groups of friends and tackle the day’s action(s) as a loose network.

If you are interested in meeting up on the day, look for the black flags under Waterloo Bridge (outside the NFT cafe), South Bank from 12pm. This location is easily accessible from Waterloo Station (tube + rail), numerous bus routes and from the Embankment via the Hungerford Footbridge.

If you want more info or just want to say hi, email us at  ayn@london.com
Contact number for the day is 07814 629780.

See you there!

Ageist? 2things

I have real problems with the term 'youth'. When do you become youth, and when do you stop being it? Seems that as anarchists we should promote organisation that doesn't consider age as a form of discrimination.

Lets just call the meeting point advertised *the* anti-cap bloc, and then split into several sub groups. If people are organised into affinity groups with spokescouncil assembly meetings (indicated by a certain flag waving) and able to decide effectively and democratically we can achieve lots on this demo.

I guess that's up to you: do you think of yourself as a youth?

I think it's important for anarchists to support oppressed groups (like women, young people, ethnic minorities etc.) organising autonomously.

If you want an anticapitalist bloc why don't you organise one?
