Parading through the streets with peace signs flying
Peace is patriotic too
Opposing war is as dignified as dying
Peace is patriotic too
Some march to the meter of a military drum
Peace is patriotic too
Some prefer a peaceful protest--we shall overcome
Peace is patriotic too

You don't need to be neurotic to think peace is patriotic
Peace is patriotic too
Drilling Arabs for oil, now that's a bit psychotic
Peace is patriotic too

We don't have to hide our heads, pretend to be mute
Peace is patriotic too
Folks can fight for freedom without forcing a salute
Peace is patriotic too
Dissent is as American as mom and apple pie
Peace is patriotic too
We can honor our nation without choosing to die
Peace is patriotic too




We don't need to shoulder weapons to prove our loyalty
Peace is patriotic too
Protesting persecution is a privilege of the free
Peace is patriotic too
You can pledge allegiance to country and flag
Peace is patriotic too
While mourning all the bodies that come home in bags
Peace is patriotic too

You don't have to be a pinko or a hippie or a freak
To speak out against oppression
You don't have to be wimpy or weird or weak
To take a stand against aggression

That red white and blue waves for me & you
Peace is patriotic too
