information in solidarity with the tribal people of west papua...text

As you may know the PNG government are threatening to
send the OPM back to Indonesia. Wed 29th is day on
which they say all OPM should leave. Obviously they
will not go and we want to support them. So on Wed
29th, some of us are going to the PNG Embassy to talk
to them, so we need two things to help support this.

First if you can make it, come along - meet Green Park
Tube 2pm.

Second, fax the letter below (or your own) to the
Embassy on Wednesday morning, or just phone them any
time on Wednesday and ask them about it all. Fax: 0207

Dear London High Commissioner,

Today is the day on which the OPM (Free Papua
Movement) have been ordered to return to West Papua by
the Papua New Guinea Government. The PNG Government
has also threatened to forcibly return all West
Papuans living in the Vanimo refugee camp. This is
clearly being done at the request of the Indonesian
Government, which is one of the most brutal military
regimes in the world. The Indonesian government and
military are hated in West Papua whilst the OPM are
unanimously supported and work only for the Freedom of
their people. Returning these people will result in
most of them being killed and tortured and will make
PNG complicit in the genocide in West Papua. They have
come to your country seeking safe refuge; we are
asking your government to grant them this fundamental
right.

The border over which your government wishes to send
these people is an artificial line drawn on the map.
It was put there by the world powers and is now
enforced by Indonesia so that it can steal the rich
resources of New Guinea. The people of West Papua are
the same as you, and all they are asking for is
Freedom from Indonesia. If the PNG government forcibly
return or detain any West Papuans it will be clear
that not only are they denying basic human rights, but
they are siding with a terrorist state and against
their own brothers and sisters.

We want you to tell your government that we are
watching them and we are supporting the West Papuans
in their demand for Freedom.

Yours sincerely
