ITV news last night (27/1) was cranking up the war rhetoric and poisoning public opinion last night, by trying to link Iraq with 9/11. Most disgraceful of all was a caption titled "Iraq Crisis" below a picture of the remains of the twin towers - depsite, of course, there not being a shred of evidence to link Iraq with this attack.

To: ITN news team.
I have recently been appalled at your coverage of the Iraq issue which has been out of touch with both the truth and the opinion of the majority of the British public. I have particular complaints about the following points:
1) You have consistently connected, both directly and indirectly, Iraq with 9/11 without any evidence.
2) You consistently refer to Iraq's possible nuclear capability (despite lack of evidence), whilst failing to point out that:
(i) the allies rained thousands of tonnes of nuclear material - "depleted uranium" in govt-friendly mediaspeak - on Iraq during the last war
(ii) the allies have enough nuclear power to destroy most of the surface of the planet,
(iii) there has been a number of near-miss nuclear accidents at UK power stations and military bases almost resulting in Chernobyl-sized disasters
(iv) the most aggressive country in the Middle east -Israel- has illegally developed nuclear weapons but continues to recieve billions of dollars in aid from USA
(v) the only country to use atomic bombs on civilian populations is USA
3) You constantly portray Saddam Hussein as a danger to world peace (obviously true), while treating Bush impartially, despite the vast majority of people in the world considering Bush to be a far greater threat, a view borne out by his (and his family's) track record.
4) You continue to refer to the Iraqis disrupting weapons inspections in the past whilst failing to mention the following:
(i) The original delegation was withdrawn because it was revealed that the US representatives were CIA spies.
(ii) When the Scott Ritter-led team had almost finished their inspections, the US said that, once they were completed, they would NOT honour their agreement to lift the oil embargo on Iraq, prompting Saddam Hussein to (understandably) refuse to comply with further inspections
(iii) The USA has been far less compliant than Iraq with its own weapons inspections,
5) You often refer to Saddam Hussein gassing his own people, whilst failing to mention:
(i) this occurred in March 1988 whilst Iraq was still an ally of USA and UK and that WE CONTINUED TO SUPPORT SADDAM HUSSEIN AFTER KNOWING ABOUT THE MASSACRE AT HALABJA
(ii) they weren't his own people, they were Kurds (although this doesn't lessen the barbarity of the massacre)
6) You consistently refer to the wishes of the UN Security Council without questioning their legitamacy (re: appalling human rights records of it's members especially Russia and China).
