Daily Mirror nicks anarchist slogan/graphic

Fifth Estate reader | 23.01.2003 20:54

slogan from Bush used on Daily Mirror front page recently was nicked from anarchist journal Fifth Estate

The Daily Mirror showed a big front page recently with Bush saying 'I shall not Exxonerate Saddam Hussein' complete with logos etc, nicked off the internet and apparently originating from anarchist/primitivist US journal Fifth Estate in 1999 (re. George Bush Senior and the Gulf War).

It was used for the anti-war message!

It was good to see it on a national newspaper which will be seen by millions of people! They used it to try to get across the anti-war message so whats wrong with that! Hardly anyone outside of the anarchist movement had even seen that graphic before!

I think it's a good thing! :-)

Blatently they should have been honest and admit that they'd nicked it off the internet. I don't disagree with that at all.

But I do feel that by far the most important thing is that millions of people have now seen that graphic for the first time who otherwise would never have seen it... and that the graphic has been used to support the cause of PEACE.
