Powell: Says US has Pictures of Iraqi Weapons of Mass Destruction:

The quotes below taken from an interview with Mr. Powell by Sueddeutsche Zeitung published yesterday, suggest that the US has or is expecting to have by the end of this month, proof that Iraq has not "cooperated with the United Nations weapons inspectors", that the US has pictures of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction and that the US will act without a second resolution.

In other words America is going to war regardless of the wishes of its own citizens or those of its allies

As a further seven US warships and 10,000 troops sailed for the Gulf yesterday, the US Secretary of State, Colin Powell, reiterated that the country was ready to go to war alone, or with "like-minded" nations.

Mr Powell, who is regarded as the least hawkish of the Bush administration, said Washington believed that by the end of January there would be "a persuasive case" that Iraq was not co-operating with the United Nations weapons inspectors.

He said that many countries believed another UN resolution was needed to justify a war against Iraq.

"But we have always made clear that the US will act without a second resolution if we are of the firm opinion that Iraq still has weapons of mass destruction or wants to produce new ones," Mr Powell told Sueddeutsche Zeitung in an interview published yesterday.

"If you are looking for proof of weapons of mass destruction, I can show you pictures."

I believe that with or without pictures that the us is going to invade iraq. While most people here in the US don't agree with such fast and furious results, we have no voice. Our media tells us that the majority of americans favor a war, although when I speak to co-worker, neighbors, family, and friends; they say otherwise.
