Media silence greets latest racist murders

ARE RACIST murders now so common place in Britain that they don't make the national news anymore?
That certainly seems to be the case with the recent deaths of Scott Young and Simon Henderson, who both lost their lives as a result of racially-motivated attacks. But news of the attacks, the ensuing court cases and, in the case of Scott Young, an inappropriate sentence, failed to be covered by the national media.

It's a far cry from the days of the murder of Stephen Lawrence when racially-motivated attacks would be the main story on our television evening news and front page headlines in the press.

Fourteen-year-old schoolboy Scott Young, was attacked by Joseph Ogwang 18, and Yannick Etutu 17, because they thought that one of his friends had racially-abused them at some earlier date. To escape the attack Scott ran into the busy London Road in Romford and was hit by two cars. He died from multiple injuries.

At the Old Bailey on October 25th Etutu was found guilty of manslaughter. On sentencing him to a mere three years in prison, Recorder of London, Michael Hyam, said:
"You have shown no real remorse or understanding of the grief you have caused." Scott's parents described the lenient sentence as "disgraceful".

Simon Henderson 21, was visiting his sick father in Maida Vale when he was stabbed three times in the head and once in throat by Samir Akbar. Simon died later in hospital after being found collapsed in the stairwell of his father's block of flats.

Akbar claimed that he had been told that Simon had made a 'derogatory remark' when he cycled past him, but Detective Chief Inspector Ian West said it was "a senseless, vicious attack." Akbar, who after the killing went and watched the controversial film American Psycho, was sentenced to life in prison.

Scott and Simon join the growing list of victims of Britain's multi-cultural society. As this list grows longer and the pain and suffering for their families becomes more widespread, for Britain's media, incredible as it might seem, the less newsworthy racially motivated murder becomes.
