Answer "why?" to war

gttmrt | 12.01.2003 02:02

This is a call from Italy. It's what the upcoming Irak war suggest to me, during this difficult time.

Hi! It's the first time i write here. First of all i would like to express my thanks to those who supported the demonstrations during Genova G8, coming here with us. I hope it will be possible for you to come again and have better time, with the huge number of sane people living here. The war to Irak involve again our countries, with many others. I will try to speak about the opinion i'm making during these hours, while TV throw up numbers of soldiers ready to leave US. An italian task, about 17 people, went few days ago to make ready the services for the next platoons. And, thinking to war, everything become more real. Like to think it's possible i will never finish the new book i'm reading; not make the cake pignolata; not feel warm and fed. I image this without be desperate, but taking act as one possible reality. And the first word coming to my mouth is "why?" before than "no". The newspaper and the web reported about the organization called ANSWER, and this word started to say something to me.
I'm getting tired to talk about our reasons, to justify our "no" to war. The real fact is that presidents warriors didn't explain enough the cause of their war. Well, they said something, but is good for nursery school. If the news about the train stopped from his workers is truth (oh i hope it is!)it means the grudge against the power is going deeper and deeper. In some sense, we should try to push them to talk. Not to say the truth (it's impossible), but to explain the reasons in a finished way. I don't see many ways either, in consideration of italian press and television. Well, this is only a small drop in the see, but may be some of you had the same thought, who knows! Should the strategy of "why?" live near the strategy of "no" ?
Many kisses

it's me again

reading again what i wrote it looks my reason to stop the war are very egoistic. What i mean is i'm feeling the war every day more tangible, and this bring me to think at the small things forming my life, important to me. I don't even see one practicable reason to attack an other country, and take away the peace from people like you and me, living of their small things, with no guilt exept be born on petrol land. That's why somebody got to explain why. Bye again!

I could explain but

12.01.2003 07:30

it would be egotistical written big. It would be the inside of those minds for whom the small but precious details of the lives of others are nothing but material with which they write their own desires and fears across the history of our collected lives. It would be the rantings of those who truly believe their values and goals are those of us all, that believe 8 billion are here to make them happy.

I could explain it thus- "why not, I can and I want to"

But then you would realize it as only good for nursery school. You would, rightly, say that to it's face. But it does not ask you, or me.

Its said that extraordinary claims demand extraordinary proof. Where more should this apply than to the claim that we must wage war? They should justify war, not us justify not war. We should naturally be inclined to talking it, but it seems our (u.s.) glorious leaders consistently undermine international accord, turn the table upside down and blame it on others.

Rest assured that others, many others, share your feelings. And YES IT IS TRUE the trains were not loaded, and many m.p. in the U.K.threaten to walk out, resign. But nmot over war, over a rushed bush war before all the facts are in and the U.N. is puppetted into voting O.K.

I spent this morning with leafleting veterans. We were near a military base entrance. The response was not nearly as depressing as you might guess.

Maybe more trains will not be loaded, planes will not be fueled.

Maybe you will have a chance to share that delightful book with me. Cover to cover.

Dream, but plot peace too.
