30 people staged a protest against the coming war against Iraq inside Brighton's major shopping centre at Churchill Square today.

The demonstrators hung a huge banner down three floors of balconies and handed out leaflets to shoppers to the sound of the intercom telling people to "ignore the demonstrators and carry on shopping".

As some demonstrators sang and talked to shoppers wanting to know what was going on others covered themselves in fake blood and did die-ins on the shopping centre floor.

The police arrived after 40 minutes and declared the entirely peaceful demonstration illegal. One protester was arrested for 'intending to enter a shopping centre without the intent to spend money' (no actually I made that up - that's what happened but they called it breach of the peace).

Lets hope there's lots more anti-war actions across tghe country breaking through the media nonsense lulling the public into war and building real opposition to Bush, Blair and the resy of the warmongers.
