British warriors denounce war!

Figures from Britain’s military past have denounced Britain’s planned war on Iraq today, International Human Rights Day.

Field Marshall Viscount Montgomery of Alemein, Field Marshall Slim, Marshall of the Royal Air Force Trenchard and Field Marshall Viscount Allenbrooke joined the trend started by Major Gen Patrick Cordingley, (commander of the so called “Desert Rats” in the 1991 Gulf onslaught) who on Sunday night’s BBC Panorama described the planned war on Iraq as a “throwback to the days of Empire.”

Trenchard, nicknamed “Boom” (aka the father of the Royal Air Force) who pioneered aerial bombardment, a policy now favoured by the USAF and RAF with deadly effect in Iraq and Afghanistan, displayed a banner reading “Boom no more”
2 members of the D10 group were arrested while helping Trenchard have his say. They are currently being held at Charing Cross Police Station.

Even Field Marshall Montgomery, who famously said, “an army always marches on its stomach” was moved to note the devastation caused by war and sanctions, dangling a placard reading “Drop sanctions not bombs.”

Field Marshal Viscount Slim once advocated using “a steam hammer to crack a walnut....if you happen to have a steamhammer handy and you don’t mind if there’s nothing left of the walnut,” an approach favoured by the bombers currently planning mass slaughter and the destruction of the civilian infrastructure in Iraq.
However for International Human Rights Day he displayed a placard reading “No more blood sacrifices.”

A spokesperson for D10 said, “On Human Rights Day, like, every day the British war machine is preparing to kill people. This year’s victims are the 22 million people of Iraq. Who will it be next year?
Today, we remember the human rights violations of the past and look forward to a future when the ideals of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are a reality.”
