Hello! This is to introduce and announce a new website called Progressive Forum. The Progressive Forum aims to provide an online political community for progressive political activists. The site consists of a series of online discussion forums on a variety of topics related to progressive social change, as well as real-time chat rooms. The forums are intended to be a place where activists, leftists and progressives can discuss ideas, issues, as well as organizing and activism amongst each other.

The forums are just being launched (December 6, 2002), so there are not many postings in the forums yet at this time. However, we hope that people will begin to add content to the forum and that the forums may grow with time.

We encourage people to start posting information and ideas to the forum, and also to let other people know about it.

The forums are meant to be open to all, and are also free.

The temporary web address / URL for the Forum is www.globalissues.net/forum. We will be getting new name / address in the near future.



The following gives a list of some of the kinds of topics that we hope to have covered in the forums:

General Discussion - for discussion of anything and everything, and general discussion of progressive politics and activism.

Hot Topics - Has current popular topics and issues, such as the war on Iraq, war on terrorism, the Middle East conflict, Globalization, etc.

Global Issues - For discussion of more international and global issues, including such areas as peace, conflict, the environment, human rights, global poverty and inequality, etc.

United States Issues - For discussion of issues and topics related to the United States, such as social justice, American politics, civil rights & liberties, American foreign policy, American culture and society, etc.

Regional Issues - For discussion of issues and topics specific to particular regions of the world, such as Latin America, Africa, Europe, Asia, etc.

Ideas & Social Theory - Discussion of social and political theory, social / political alternatives and visions, anarchism and socialism, etc.

Activism & Organizing - for discussion of strategies and ideas for activism, action and organizing, discussion of tactics, examination of the current anti-globalization movement, etc.

Other Topics - includes forums for posting news, announcements, events notices, action alerts, etc.
