War with Iraq is now imminent!

Harlequin | 06.12.2002 10:57

It looks now like war with Iraq is certain and unstoppable as America has said that unless Iraq gives full details of all its weapons of mass destruction by December the 8th it will use force to disarm Iraq.

So it seems like the anti-war movement has failed. There seems nothing we can do now to stop this war! Already so called revolutionaries like the SWP have moved onto the next big thing which is the firefighters dispute and have all but abandoned the anti-war campaign. The anarchist movement is doing nothing about the coming war either. So there we have it yet another war that we failed to prevent despite all the rhetoric of civil disobedience if war starts nothing has come of it and we have all failed!

By failure you mean every single person who did something to try and stop the war, such as direct action, SWP, Green, Labour MP's, Mothers and Fathers, Sons and Daughters, Journalists, peace groups etc...

The failure is in the people who want this war, their failure as a human to look beyond war for answers. Our 'failure' at least stemmed from the desire to take action. That in itself is not a failure.

You can tell someone to not hit you, try and reason with them but you may not stop them hitting you. Yet over time this person who hit will be the one who falls down.
