Political Prisoner Eddie Hatcher´s mail censored for "sercuity resons".Eddie Hatcher was not able to receive ONWARD magazine. But this isn´t the first time MCI has tampered,censored or "lost" Eddie´s mail.From 4-25-2002 message from Eddie Hatcher Defense Committe:
"To all of our friends and supporters,
It seems that MCI and the Superintendant, Sid Harkleroad, has been tampering with Eddie's mail. I realize how much power he has and also
that they have the absolute right to go through inmates mail and withhold
anything if considered reasonable. However, prison policies state that the inmate must be notified/informed of such actions.

Two weeks ago, I mailed Eddie a letter with several copies of a newspaper article. When I visited him a week later, he informed me that he only received (1) copy of the news article, the others copies had been passed around to prison employees because his unit manager had a copy.
Eddie was never informed of this nor had I received the copies back with the pink slip of paper stating Eddie could not have those items. I called the mail room and was quickly told that Mr. Harkleroad, the Sup., had confiscated that mail. Well, needless to say he would not return my calls for questioning."

It is not new for the staff of MCI ,under the leadership of Superintendent Sid Harkleroad to harass and target Eddie Hatcher for any number of trumped up charges. In sept. Eddie was sent in isolation for not providing a urine sample for a drug screen .Eddie was unable to pee on demand, and earlier in the week was in the prison clinic for peeing blood needless to say he was having health problems,and thus problems peeing on demand for a "random" drug screen. While in isolation after a 8 day hunger strike "staff" entered his cell
". Yesterday, they came to my cell, woke me up, handcuffed me and took me to a holding cell. While I was in the holding cell, Sgt. Richards and three of his guards went into my cell and literally demolished it. My stuff was thrown all over the floor, scattered like they just picked stuff up and threw it in the air. I have never seen a cell be literally torn to hell the way they did mine. While they were in there, they closed the cell door for about 5 minutes. I couldn't see inside and have no idea what they were doing. When they were taking me back to my cell I asked Sgt. Richards a question and just ignored me and would not even answer. When I walked into my cell, I couldn't believe it. I swear to God I can not even describe it. All of my few items like shampoo, lotion, brush, comb, deodorant had been taken off the shelf literally scattered all over the floor. All of my pens were scattered across the floor. My file pockets holding all of my legal work were thrown on the floor with papers just scattered like they had been thrown into a fan. So far, I am missing (4) four legal papers including an affidavit I was doing about all that had happened. Richards stood at the cell door for a little while just throwing stuff out of my cell into a big trash pile."

This latest censor is just one of many attacks against eddie hatcher. The NC DOC is a sham and must be elimintated!
