It won't be you! Villagers in Lottery rejection row.

Angry Gloucestershire villagers have been rejected by the Community Fund in their bid for funding because all the villagers are white Britons.

The money for the Community Fund comes from the gullible punters like us who buy National Lottery tickets. In a display of astonishing contempt for the vast majority of Lottery customers, the Community Fund have reduced the amount of donations given to cash starved parish communities over the past few years yet has given increased amounts to ethnic minority groups.

The village of Westbury-on-Severn in Gloucester bid five times to help with funding the refurbishment of the village hall. They reduced the amount requested from an original £1M in 1997 to a mere £60,000. The villagers were told by the Applications Board of the Community Fund that the application would be successful if there was evidence that ethnic minorities has access to the village hall! Needless to say in this very British riverside village there is a distinct absence of ethnic minority groups.

The hall is a focal point for the local community and holds sports training and events, theatre shows, arts and crafts events and is a meeting place for Age Concern. In true British spirit the determined villagers have banded together to raise the funds themselves but feel frustrated and angry at the Community Fund's decision.

The importance of church, pub and village hall in holding together rural communities which face threat from the deliberate destruction of British farming aswell as loss of other vital services is not overlooked by the bosses of the Community Fund.

The decision to reduce funding to village halls is a another tactic used to undermine the sense of community, the sense of belonging and the very anchor points that make life in Britain so very special. Remove those anchor points and the social fabric of life slowly falls apart. Pandering to vocal ethnic minority groups will surely backfire as sales of National Lottery tickets continues to decline. To speed up that decline we suggest that BNP supporters think twice before parting with hard earned money next time they wander past a National Lottery terminal.
