New democracy website demands a political system worth voting for...

* Are you apathetic about politics?

* Did you not vote in the last general election?

* Do you feel excluded from the mainstream political parties?

Well don't feel bad. In fact, if you didn't vote, feel good about it. Shout it from the rooftops.

Ignore the inevitable gasps of outrage from politicians and broadsheet journalists. After all, they're just trying to blackmail us into taking part in a process which has helped them and failed the rest of us.

Not voting is a political act, whether you mean it to be or not. It's a product of the worrying decline in political accountability, scrutiny and participation.

So we say, don't bother with them at all until something is done and our votes are worth something.

There are other ways to take part in democratic debate, like street protest, joining a trade union or campaign group and even starting a website.

Talking of websites, take a look at the "Veto The Vote" site which is at:

You can also e-mail us at  info@vetothevote.com

We hope you'll find it's a great resource on democracy because we trawl the web for fresh news stories on democracy most days. There is also lots of useful background information about democracy.

Notes for Editors:

1. Veto The Vote has no links to any political party or group

2. Anybody is welcome to support Veto the Vote, providing their views and actions are not racist, extremist, criminal or violent.

3. The site has been set up by two individuals concerned about what they believe to be an erosion of democratic principles in the UK.
