Shut down DSEi!
DSEi (Defence Systems Equipment International) is the largest European arms fair of 2003. It is sponsored by the government with exhibitors and delegates from all over the world. Exhibitors have included BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and Rolls-Royce. Delegates were invited from 79 different countries, with approximately one third of these countries involved in war or conflict. DSEi is a huge event given the availability of land, air and sea equipment (most arms fairs only focus on one area). In previous years illegal anti-personnel landmines have been advertised for sale. Last year a combination of peace and anti capitalist protesters converged on the Docklands to disrupt their business. 2003 must be bigger and better. We will shut it down!!
WORKING GROUPS
There are many different aspects to co-ordinating a mass protest and in order to be successful, people are needed to get involved in working groups from the beginning of the process.
These groups are open to whoever wants to get involved, regardless of whether they are already members of supporting groups. These working groups will be accountable to the coordinating group and no decisions will be finalised without the consensus of the coordinating group.
These are the groups currently set up, though others can be added as necessary. To get involved subscribe to the appropriate email list by sending a blank email to the address below.

SUPPORTING GROUPS
Supporting groups send one representative to the fortnightly coordinating group meetings. Any decisions taken by the coordinating group are fed back to supporting groups by this representative who can than bring their group’s comments back to the following coordinating group meeting in order to reach consensus.
If you are in a group that would like to support the call to action, please contact the coordinating group. If your group is not able to attend meetings, you can still get involved in the co-ordinating process at a later date.
We are asking that each supporting group donate however much they feel they can afford to the coordinating group. None of this money will be spent without the consensus of the coordinating group. This money will hopefully provide a starting point for producing publicity etc.
Groups supporting the DSEi 2003 proposal so far are: CAAT, Youth & Student CND, the WOMBLES, SOAS People & Planet, Anarchist Youth Network and many others.
