White flags against the war!

anti-war | 15.11.2002 12:10

In view of the ongoing massive war preparations of the US-government against Irak, it is time now for a worldwide visible sign of protest against this war.

Beginning on november 15th until the end of this year, we will show with white fabrics on the windows of our
appartments in all villages and cities of all countries worldwide our clear NO against the ongoing warmongering.

This easy to realize demonstration has no center and is not bound to any ideology or political party. It will find
highest attention in all our streets and in all media and thus demonstrate clearly the profound disagreement of the largest part of humanity against this war.

For worldwide communication, please send this message to all of your friends. And from november 15th fix a white fabric on the lower frame of all your windows.

How will they know?

How will they know I am against the war if I put a white sheet in my window. Surely a sign saying STOP THE WAR is more obvious?

Why?

Save the war criminals?

I just hope the target for your warm concerns, Mr. Saddam Hussein himself, joins this action and starts waving a white sheet or flag or something, as I sign that he´s ready to hand over himself to the UN and later face accusations as the war criminal he actually is.
All of you opposing any military action against Saddam Hussein, please inform the world community what alternative ways there are to bring him to justice. I think it´s about time now.
Put up or shut up!

In other words, put up net curtains to show your opposition to war. Hmmm ... I can think of better actions.

Limited cultural awareness!

15.11.2002 14:05

I think this idea is the offspring of some uneducated persons lack of knowledge of other cultures. It´s clearly ethnocentristic. Your aim is that this should be a worldwide action. Well, let me tell you that in many cultures the colour white is associated with sorrow and grief and not peace as it is among western "christians".
Another problem is that a lot of people around the globe are sick and tired of Saddam Hussein. His appaling lack of respect for the world community and the population of Iraq shouldn´t be rewarded with our passive acceptance.
I feel a strong enthusiasm for liberating the Iraqi people, the Middle East and the world as a whole from this war criminal.
If you took your eyes away from your computer screen and had a look around the world outside your own leftist, ethnocentrist limits, you would discover that billions of people around the globe strive for democracy and recognition of their human rights. Things you take for granted.
Educate yourself and realise that not only YOU, but all human beings deserve to live their life free from oppression, even the Iraqis. Your attitude seems to me like a remnant from the days of european colonialism; Freedom for us - subjugation for every one else.
The people of Iraq didn´t put Saddam in power, in fact he could maintain his regime thanks to the US. Now the US and other countries have a responsability to get rid of the "monster of Bagdad" in order to assure the Iraqis the privilige long shared by the western powers; that of being the masters of their own future!

quite right!

15.11.2002 14:14

I agree with Cheng. It's ethnocentric to oppose war; don't you leftist fools realise that being blown up by cluster bombs is part of Arab culture?

We must save the Iraqi people from suffering any more of Hussein's oppression, by killing them.

Cheng/Anti-Saddam

Cheng/Anti-Saddam = "proactive" opinion control team (so the leaks from your operation tell us)

Whereas Saddam Hussein circa 1960 was helped into power by the CIA

Whereas Britain stole the southern province from Iraq to create the "sovereign" state of Kuwait (with 60 billion barrells of oit) in 1961

Whereas the West saved Saddam Hussein's butt in the war with Iran in the 1980s, indeed arming him to the teeth, including with whatever rusting weapons of mass destruction he possesses

Whereas April Glaspie told Old Saddam, 'hey dude go ahead, put the pressure on Kuwait' in 1999

Whereas Israel has weapons of mass destruction galore in the hands of an extremist regime

Whereas the United States is now the greatest threat to world peace, promising a rolling succession of wars

JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP

Who is an iraqi?

15.11.2002 15:23

- And of course it´s a part of the kurd´s culture to be the victims of Saddam´s gas attacks, or a part of central and eastern european jewish culture to die during pogroms, in concentration camps and so on.
So, fellow westeners; Let´s all free ourselves of any kind of responsability for the actions of Saddam and other tyrants. We didn´t help him establish his regime in the eighties did we? We don´t owe the iraqi´s shit do we? The Iraqi´s, the kurds and the jews do not wish anything else than becoming targets for different atrocities organised by megalomaniac tyrants. Respect the holy rights of Saddam and his voluntary victims.
All you western "peacelovers" don´t have any blood on your hands, do you?

Hans

Invade Iraq now!

15.11.2002 15:48

The UK and the US share the responsability for the daily atrocities with the bloodthirsty, antihumanitarian regime of Iraq.
We owe the Iraqi´s their freedom and the Middle East security.
Anyone in the west disclaiming this responsability is a passive supporter of these war crimes and this oppression.
Speaking for myself, I consider it my duty as a citizen of the world to resist and disrespect any totalitarian bullshit regime. Such "states", who consistantly attack, slaughter and rape their own civilians and invade their neighbours deserve no right to exist in their present forms. Don´t be lead astray by pseudo-fascists who drivel about the respect for "sovereign nations" like Iraq.
Saddam´s regime and the "peaceloving" actions of his leftist crypto-supporters in the west deserve only one thing: to be blown away!
Support the iraqi people - fight the real enemy! The freedom of the Iraqis is NOT just their "own" cause. Mankind is ONE!

grow up

15.11.2002 17:37

You guys are either trying to spread the warmongers' propaganda or you're very, very naive.

Who do you think Saddam will be replaced with? The Easter Bunny? Santa Clause, bringing democracy and human rights as a little present for all those little Iraqi kids that we've been starving for a decade?

Just have a look at the candidates here:  http://www.sundayherald.com/27877

Sorry - I don't like disappointing you, but the truth is: our elected Western governments, esp. the Bush men, don't give a damn about Iraqis, their freedom, etc. It's the oil they are after (as well as another base for their global military power). In fact, they'd hate a democratic Iraq: then government might actually prevent exploitation by Western oil companies.

Or why do you think the West kept Saddam in power for four decades?

pir

Hey Sharpermind

15.11.2002 18:44

"Such "states", who consistantly attack, slaughter and rape their own civilians and invade their neighbours deserve no right to exist in their present forms."

Looks like the first state we should get rid of is the United States of America.

You Love Saddam

15.11.2002 19:03

I hate to point out to the likes of sharpmind (???) what is obvious to those who no more than a tabloid editorial about Iraq but it wasn't us lefties that supported him. His first act on coming to power (with the help of the CIA) was to exterminate the left wing in Iraq. Thatcher and Reagan were his buddies, not me.

stop your pro-war pro-death propaganda

15.11.2002 22:56

The proposed war on Iraq is completely legal, you people supporting it are either propagandists or just dumb. The Iraqis will experience no change in human rights, and their country will be bombed to pieces and their oil carved up for americans, making them even richer and funding more wars. The Iraqi people constantly say to independent media and even mainstream media that they hate Saddam, but they hate the US much more. As Saddam is under the spotlight his human rights atrocities are probably actually considerably less than at other times, as if he does anything bush will have a trump card to use, and their human rights record is far worse than 'moderates'. Supression of the Kurds? What about Turkey, who is about to join the EU? They do the same! Some say he used gas on the Kurds, testing it, but it was letter found by the UN that this was propaganda and there was no evidence for this. The Americans will set up permament military bases, steal their oil, and oppress the Iraqis just as much, take a look at the other country's we've 'liberated'. Through the US's illegal sanctions 100,000s of Iraqi children have died, and huge amounts of non-children also. The american army doesnt bother seeing who's actually got a gun, they just shoot, like the brave warriors they are. We put him in power so we owe it to the Iraqis to overthrow him, bomb their country to bits, steal their untapped wealth, and leave them as a wreckage with no voice? yay! good idea! Saddam is a ruthless dictator, but compared with 'moderates', he is nothing, and compared with the US, he isnt even on the same scale.

NO

sorry

15.11.2002 23:24

Sorry I think I got my facts mixed up there with the saying he didn't use chemical weapons on Kurds, but this was still led by one of the West's favourites for the new leader.

same person as above

Zionist Propagandists

15.11.2002 23:58

I suspect the ignorant posts above are from Zionists as they are pushing for war on Iraq and are increasingly hostile to the Left for its support for Palestine, as seen from their posts.
