SOCIAL FIGHTERS ARE TARGETED

The case of Y.Serifis

Social fighter Yiannis Serifis is once again targeted by repression. This time, he has been called to confess for his supposed participation to the "17th of November" group. The occasion for this was the fact that Serifis' name had been mentioned at testimonies of arrested suspects of the 17N group.
Y. Serifis has a direct relation with social struggles for decades. It isn't the first time that state tries to accuse him as he has been accused in the past for an attempt of sabotage against AEG, as well as for the death of Christos Kasimis. He has been declared innocent of all accusations, and he was also supported by solidarity movements.
The attempt of social fighters such as Yiannis Serifis and A. Lesperoglou, not a long time ago, as well as the repression of social movements has been growing lately, thanks to the infamous war against terrorism.

Yiannis Serifis was detended awaiting his trial earlier this week, whilst demonstrators who expressed their solidarity to him were in conflict with the cops outside the court.
The magistracy ordered the detention of Serifis, after his confess concerning the accusations about the offence of "participation in a terrorist group" as well as "discrete possession of weaponry"
Following the announcement of the decision, demonstrators in solidarity to Serifis- members of leftist groups, members of the "crouch against state terrorism" and anarchists were in conflict with the police and one demonstrator was arrested. Before entering the court, Serifis distributed a written declaration in which he demonstrates the reasons of the repression. Among others he says:
«Through my case, they want to asperse all those that took part in the resistance against the military junta (1967-74), and who instead of encashing their struggles, have chosen to continue to resist. They want to attack the struggle for the growth of an unsponsored class movement. They want to strangle and attack revolutionary left and anti authoritarian and anarchist movements.

Yiannis Serifis wont be alone against state repression!

Freedom to the anarchist Giorgos Karakasian! Solidarity to the anarchist Sotiris Maragos!

The anarchist Giorgos Karakasian is at the prison of Cyprus. Acting in solidarity to the palestinian people during last April, he faced police's brutality. After his beating, the arrest and conviction followed, concerning accusations such as the "cause of injury to a police officer" and the "possession of explosives".
The anarchist Sotiris Maragos is to go in trial for the same case, on 31/10.

Solidarity actions have taken place in Cyprus and Israel. A solidarity gig will take place in Athens on 2/11.
