Five activists of the antimilitarist group d10 leafletted a Royal Air Force concert at the Royal Festival Hall on 30 October.
Welfare or Warfare ?
Under the slogan "welfare of warfare", and using a banner saying "Against all bombing", five d10 activists leafletted the Royal Air Force concert at the Royal Festival Hall yesterday. They gave out some 200 flyers - not bad on a rainy evening.
The event at the Royal Festival Hall, organised by the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund Enterprise (RAFBFE), was aimed to raise money for those ex-RAF recruits who have been let down by the military.
Or so it seems.
On their website, the RAFBFE claims it's first objective is to 'promote the recruitment and efficiency of the RAF' [1], in effect inciting more young recruits to get trapped in the army, and promoting warfare.
They also staged ‘a special musical Salute to Bomber Crews both past and present’, the same squadrons that, in the near future, will be bringing destruction to Iraq, destroying what remains of Iraqi society and infrastructure.
Right now, such celebrations of mass murder are here to promote the agenda of the military and warlord politicians such as Bush and Blair in their run up to the war on Iraq. This event is about warfare, not welfare. Refuse to co-operate, refuse to celebrate mass murder, refuse the war on Iraq, refuse the military.
