The sh(i)t bag is in the UK, if you have a heart do something

The former IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Shaul Mofaz will be the Guest of Honour at the United Jewish Israel Appeal’s Annual Dinner in Glasgow.

In his first visit to the UK since leaving the top IDF post in July 2002, Lt. Gen. Mofaz will talk about his role in leading the IDF through one of the most challenging times in its history. He will provide an in depth perspective on Operation Defensive Shield and Israel’s response to the escalation of suicide bombings and other terror attacks.

Lt. Gen. Mofaz’s distinguished military career spans 35 years. He was inducted into the IDF shortly before the Six Day War, serving in the Paratroops Brigade, and rose through the ranks holding a number of key positions before being appointed Chief of General Staff in 1998.

The Annual Dinner on October 26th 2002 will mark the launch of the UJIA’s 2003 campaign. The campaign will focus on two areas: Israel Now – meeting key challenges currently facing the Israeli people and providing relief and support to terror victims; and Jewish Future – developing the next generation of proud and knowledgeable young Scottish Jews who are committed to Israel.

UJIA Scotland Campaign Chairman Sam Kingsley said: "The UJIA Annual Dinner has become a highpoint of the Glasgow community calendar, and this year more than ever it will represent an important show of solidarity and support for the people of Israel. We are privileged to have such a high profile Israeli speaker. Lt. Gen. Mofaz will provide an incredible insight into the current situation in Israel and its response to the onslaught of terrorism on its citizens."
