Activists dropped a 40ft banner across a motorway bridge on the M42 to protest against the obscene glorification of car culture 2 miles down the road at the National Exhibtion Centre. The banner said 'CAR CULTURE = CLIMATE CHAOS. The Motor Show is an annual event and this year 70 new cars were launched including many fuel guzzling high performance and SUVs. Rising Tide, the climate justice group, campaigns against the social and ecological consequences of the burning of fossil fuels and the Motor Show protests are a focus for activity to oppose the government's sponsorship of the motor industry and the climate chaos our car culture produces.
