From Wednesday to Friday, the "Watford 5" - five antimilitarists, who took action against an army presentation in Watford in February 2002 - will be on
trial in the Watford Magistrates' Court, Clarendon Rd, Watford.
All five are accused of "disrupting a public meeting", although the presentation to local community leaders by the Army Presentation Team was by invitiation only. The 1908 Public Meeting Act, which is used here to criminalize
antimilitarists, was first introduced to fight the Suffragettes movement. It wasn't used at all for years or decades, and it now for the first time used against antimilitarist activists.
Two of the Watford 5 are also charged with "criminal damage" for throwing eggs filled with red paint at the presentation. So far - more than 8 months after the action - the army was unable to provide any evidence of the damage
done.

Show your solidarity and come to the trial.
