FINI IN LONDON. Stop the man for the job of Genoa

fred | 20.10.2002 21:46

A brief introduction to Gianfranco Fini, leader of the Italian right-wing party and vice of Premier Berlusconi, in visit in London on tuesday 22nd october.

GIANFRANCO FINI - A Fascist of Our Time

A past as fascist thug gave him good credentials to become the heir apparent of Almirante (undisputed leader of the Italian fascist party from 1969 to 1987). Since 1987 Fini has been the leader of MSI (Italian Social Movement) the main right-wing party, whose name was changed in 1994 in AN (National Alliance) in an attempt to give themselves out to be “new men”. On this occasion, Fini rejected the fascist label and even changed his look and his glasses’ frame so as to look like a real moderate liberal. A big step for the man who led pilgrimages to Predappio to pay honour to the Duce’s grave, and claimed that Mussolini has been - indeed - the greatest statesman of the century.

When he is not engaged in bestowing great honours upon the dictators and mass murderers of our recent history, Fini, the new man, shows off his intrinsic fascism issuing appalling statements on many different matters:

On GAYS- Fini declared that homosexuals should not be allowed to teach school. To the immediate protests he replied associating homosexuality to paedophilia.
On GENOA- The Premier Berlusconi and his post-fascist deputy Fini, have both visited Genoa in the days preceding the G8 Summit, and Fini eagerly proclaimed to have personally crowned the security policy.
Many issues are still unsolved: the presence of Fini on the 20th of July in the barracks of Forte Giuliano, and that of Minister Roberto Castelli in Bolzaneto the night between 21/22 July; what actually happened in Bolzaneto barracks; and who gave orders to massacre the people sleeping at school Diaz.
Fini was also the first one to take up a definite position after Carlo Giuliani’s death. He talked about “self-defence” or, at most, “misuse of self-defence”.
On IMMIGRANTS- In June 2002 the Italian Parliament approved the Bossi-Fini Law on immigration. According to this law, resident permits are only to be granted to foreigners who have already an employment contract, their duration is reduced from 3 to 2 years, and a crime for illegal immigrants who return to Italy after expulsion has been introduced. It also provides for compulsory fingerprints for non-European Community workers.
On MIDDLE EAST- Fini recently apologised to the Jewish Community for the fascist persecutions during the Second World War, and declared himself to be Israel’s friend and to totally share their views and their policies as to the Middle East conflict. He also planned to visit Israel very shortly.
“The vice-Premier Fini is a real friend, a person who is very important to us - says Israeli Minister Dahan - and his visit to Israel will be planned by the competent organizations of the Foreign Ministry, just because he is such an important person”.
…From a genocide to another….
