Activist Videomakers wins Canadian award

Oxford based Undercurrents alternative news agency has won first prize in the One World festival.Their documentary, GLOBALISATION AND THE MEDIA was chosen by the judges
for the coveted first prize.The award will be made on October 24 in Ottawa, Canada.

The award winning documentary could also win another award this week in OKOMEDIA, Europes largest Environmental film festival in Germany.The film will be screened amongst the best of Europe in a five day festival in Frieburg on
October 25.

The documentary asks does the media offer a clear analysis of globalised trade and the war on terrorism? Spanning three countinents with interviews from the president of CNN, Editor of Oxford based New Internationalist, a number of Indymedia Journalists and other news editors.

A judge for the ONE WORLD FESTIVAL stated "This film explores the inventive ways new technologies are being used to make news better serve democracy."

Congratulation to UnderCurrent.

The film is indead brilliant, and dedicated for large and non-activists audience [ <= which isn't the case most of the time with video activists works ]

Hey, guys, if you get some money from this price, think about translating / undertitling this movie, it really worth to be done ... [ i wanted to do that for French, but we couldn't complete that project ...]

Money has gone for free copies

We won $500 canadian but dontated it for free copies of the film to be handed out at the festival (saves the bank getting their hands on it with commision etc)
