GERMANY: Total objector Sascha Hübner arrested by military police

German total objector Sascha Hübner, who was called up for military service on 1 October 2002, was arrested by the German military police (Feldjäger) on Wednesday, 9 October 2002. He then was brought to the Freiherr-v.-Boeselager barracks in Munster.
Sascha Hübner called the commander of the barracks on 4 October, and declared: "I was called up to serve in the German Bundeswehr from 1 October 2002 on. I won't start this service, as I oppose both, military and civilian service, as a forced service. In my view both services are limitations to the freedom of each male citizen, which I see us contradictory to the principles of a free society. I decided freely, without outside pressure or force, based on my principles, for total objection, in order to show my opposition to conscription and this kind of forced services. I'm fully aware of the consequences of my act, and I'm prepared to face them."

So far there is no information from the barracks. It has to be expected that Sascha Hübner refused to obey any orders, and was incarcerated in an arrest cell at the barracks.
Usually the first arrest is for 7 days, followed by a second arrest of 14 days, and then two to three arrests of 21 days each.

War Resisters' International calls for letters of support to Sascha Hübner:
