At 5th of October, in Rethymnon (town of Crete islands), approximately 250 protesters (anarchists, radical lefts & students) assembly outside Creta Hotel, where is taking place the E.U defense ministers summit. The protesters chanted against NATO, US government and E.U. The anarchists have more radical chants against state and capital. The attempt of protesters to enter the hotel is blocked by riot police. The riot policemen attack with buttons and the comrades hit back with sticks. While withdrawing many stones are thrown against the cops. No arrests were made while 2 cops and 2 protesters where injured.
This is part of the fight against the continuous imperialism of the capitalist elite (US and E.U.) against all the world, and the resulting consequences against western societies.
Meanwhile, it should be referred that more than 60 anarchists were arrested, after being photographed and taken fingertips, and released during last weekend. This is part of authorities pogrom outside self-managed centers, after the “Rally against State & Media Terrorism” and the arson attack against “Apogevmatini” (daily conservative newspaper). This pogrom is part of the “anti”-terrorist activity of media and state that aims to resisting citizents (especially anarchists) before the Greek Presidency of E.U (first semester of ’03) and the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
Also during previous weekend took place in Thessaloniki (sub-capital of Greece) an open antiauthoritarian festival, organized by Black Cat squat, and a meeting for the anarchist co-operation during E.U. Greek Presidency, gathering hundreds of people, even though the state terror climate.
