She is a middle-aged, peaceful, small 'c' conservative bridge-player (she is dictating this now!) who for the first time in her life feels strongly enough about American imperialism brain washing and cynical manipulation to step up to the plate.

Personally I am excited by the idea - if my mother (who can be a bit of a new age hippy but is basically liberal) is getting radicalised enough to actually feel the need to do more than the odd protest vote what possibilities for cross all divides people finally fighting for a better world and not expecting someone else to do it for them.
