The Truth?

The Anti-War March (28-9-02 London)
I attended this march; I am middle class, middle aged, middle of the road politically, live in the middle of the country and have never protested in my life. The media coverage was almost non existent and biased, Radio 4 stated on Saturday that "Tens of Thousands" of people had been on this march which is stretching the English language beyond belief.
The Sunday Times had a single photo and less of a write up than this E-mail, on the back page. More press coverage was given to a small protest against Stansted Airport expansion; they could not even fill the screen with a crowd, as there were so few people. They interviewed an activist in almost open space with the odd protestor in the background a luxury all protesters at the anti-war march did not have for at least 5 hours.
There were only 3 non-white police officers at the event that I saw out of the several hundred there and of course the senior officers were all white. The police helicopter droned overhead for about 4 hours a complete waste of money as this crowd was better behaved than the normal population and an unnecessary risk (Two arrests for public order offences).
This has changed my belief of an unbiased media, reporting in a responsible manor.

Wow - the pics are amazing and the sentiment from Julian is spot on. I couldn't quite believe the lame covergae from the ainstream (well, I could believe it, but you know what I mean). Such a load of predictable rubbish or worse still totally ignoring this seminal moment in British anti-war history.
Oh well, they ignore us aty their peril.
Peace, Sam x
